Question 36 - When we call the Lord Jehovah, is He near to us or aloof to us?

Psalm 145:18 NKJV - "The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth."
Psalm 46:1 NKJV - "… God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble."
Psalm 22:1 NKJV - "… My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?"
Psalm 10:1 NKJV - "Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide in times of trouble?"
Answer:
The same Psalm 66:18 says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear”.
As per Old Testament, Saul was guarding donkeys and yet Lord God made him as the king. Saul showed ingratitude towards the Lord God and forgot Him. He had the vindictive nature on his son-in-law David and tried to kill him many times.
Philistines came to combat with Saul as he wasn’t close to God any more. And Lord God did not answer Saul when he inquired.

So, it is written in John 9:31 that God does not hear sinners.
