Question 17 - To say one thing - To do another thing?

Mark 8:12-13 NKJV - "But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation." And He left them, and getting into the boat again, departed to the other side."
Matthew 12:38-39 NKJV - "Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah."
Acts 2:22 NKJV - ""Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Himin your midst, as you yourselves also know--"
John 20:30 NKJV - "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;"
John 3:2 NKJV - "This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."”
Answer:
“Teacher we want to see a sign from you”, they asked Jesus. That means they knew that he is capable of performing signs. Does it make any sense in asking Jesus to perform a sign just for the sake of time passing or to chill their curiosity? That is when Jesus said to them that there will not be any sign shown to you except the ultimate sign of his death and resurrection just like Jonah’s 3 days and nights in the belly of the fish.

Yes, Jesus performed so many healing acts and signs for the people in need. However for the people who are interested just for the sake of watching him perform a sign he has not given any sign except the sign of the Prophet Jonah.  Jonah was in the belly of a great fish for 3 days and nights. The Lord Jesus said to them, “There shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah”. This sign was done by the Lord Christ after His death on the cross.
